Start of Something New

Today is my first attempt at a blog. I have found myself with so many thoughts, ideas, recipes, and stories that I figured it was time to share my expert opinions with the world (By expert I mean not at all professional but honest)

My husband and I have been married for just over 3 years. About 8 months into marriage we had both reached a point where we were physically and mentally unhappy. We had gotten overweight, lazy, and all around unhealthy. 
Us, May 2010:

So we did what any person in our shoes does: 
Stopped eating crap
Stopped eating out
Started cooking REAL food
Joined the local gym

This worked for about 9 months, we lost 85 lbs together and started feeling much better about ourselves. 

Then I met this guy:

That would be our trainer Matt. If you can't do that, I don't care what you say about my fitness.

Now we work out with him and other trainers along with attempting to get better at running. We both just finished Dam to Dam, a huge 20K race in Des Moines. It was the hardest thing I have ever done, but I am more than proud of myself. As you can tell from this, we could barely walk.

But it was worth it. So I will try to share my recipes I find online, modify, or create myself. I will complain about how hard/hot/boring running is, but yet I still love the challenge it gives me. I will talk about my workouts and whatever torture I go through that day. I will also talk about life, crafts, books, celebrities, or my favorite pink things. Thanks for reading and hopefully I don't offend you (too much).
